Greetings SPARK Community:
Since 2010, SPARK has utilized the FMJC to build new Queer & Trans youth of color leadership, change culture, and advance knowledge in Georgia and the South. Through this dynamic 4-day/3-night all expenses paid gathering, we equip Southern Queer & Trans youth of color with the skills and tools they need to reimagine and create media for our resilience, our lives, and our communities.
In our five years of coordinating the FMJC, we have hosted 35 LGBTQQ youth of color at 4 FYRE Media Justice Camps resulting in 6 short films, 3 blogs, 72 photographs, and podcasts on coming out, bullying, sexual health, healthcare access, violence, and abortion, and so much more! This year, we’re amplifying the voices of LGBTQQ youth of color through the medium of poetry. Participants will engage in interactive skill shares around reproductive justice, media justice, and artivism while gaining the skills needed to create liberatory media.
We need your partnership, your commitment to reproductive justice in the South to ensure we can continue to build this needed space!
On November 12th, SPARK will participate in Georgia Gives Day in an effort to raise $1,000 to support this year’s FYRE Media Justice Camp.We hope that you will join us in fostering vital spaces for Queer & Trans youth of color in the South and give to SPARK Reproductive Justice NOW!
In community power,
The SPARK Team
