2019 FMJC

Greetings Friend,

Calling all creatives! SPARK Reproductive Justice NOW is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for our 2019 FYRE Media Justice Camp! This year’s FYRE Camp, Read to Filth, seeks to hold an intentional space for Queer and Trans young people of color and cis Black women in the South. We intend to hold this space for movement building and elevating our voices through the creation of a ZINE!

A zine is a compilation of illustrations, poems, narratives, essays, and photos that typically follow a central theme! The theme for this zine is “Our Lives, Our Stories.”

So, if you’re a photographer, writer, poet, illustrator, or you’re interested in learning more about these creative outlets in relation to Reproductive Justice…this is the camp for you!

Through this camp, SPARK aims to build a base of leaders who will reimagine and create artistic narratives for our resilience, our lives, and our communities. Leaders who will amplify the voices of queer and trans youth of color, and cisgender Black women.

Upon completion of the FYRE Camp, participants will form the 2019 Health Advocacy Cohort. This cohort will focus on issues surrounding abortion culture, stigma, and access; sexual health, such as HIV prevention and treatment, PrEP and PEP; health care coverage and access; and organizing and base building.

This year’s FYRE Media Justice Camp is scheduled to take place July 11 to July 14 in Atlanta, GA. All travel and boarding expenses are covered.

The APPLICATION DEADLINE to be a FYRE camper or a peer leader is June 7, 2019. Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
